Demanding eater

If you are eating something in front of Lise - she will screech until she gets it too. No hesitation around new food here, if you eat it, she NEEDS to have it in her mouth yesterday!

The other night we were having baby carrots and dip. She yelled until we gave her a baby carrot (and watched her super close to make sure she was only shaving off little bits with her 6 teeth). But that wasn't good enough, nope. She then screamed holding the carrot toward me until I'd take it, dip it in the thousand island dressing on my plate and give it back to her, where she would lick off the dressing, gnaw off a tiny bit of carrot, and then repeat the screeching until the carrot was dipped again.

Eating the carrot.

Demanding more.

Friday evening we took the girls to Beecher's for ice cream. Claire had been there numerous times last summer and even once earlier in the season with just me. Lise hadn't been there since last season, so this was the first time she was actually able to have ice cream. We got her vanilla frozen yogurt in a dish. She wasn't so sure about the cold at first (she's had ice cream before, but always is a little hesitant at first.) But soon got over that.

But we had made a mistake.

Claire had an ice cream cone. I had an ice cream cone. (Will had a shake, but apparently he isn't the trendsetter that Lise wants to follow.) She very clearly wanted to lick the frozen yogurt out of the dish and not eat it off of a spoon. Let's just say that she got most of the frozen yogurt inside her I think, but hopefully no one sits in her spot on that bench until after the next rain.

I guess next time we go with the cone... except then she's probably going to want to hold it herself. We'll have to go on bath night!

One more I forgot

One more swinging picture I forgot to post - especially for my cousin who just arrived in South Korea! (It's a little dress - I didn't get a good picture of the whole thing yet, but be assured, it's pretty cute!)

Sandbox

Lise's birthday sandbox has been a hit with both girls. These pictures are from earlier in the month - when it was still nice and cool.

Swings

What is better than swinging at MaPop's house?

Pushing your sister on her swing or being pushed by your sister! Non-stop laughing!!

An Old House

We were persuaded to let our house be one of the five old houses on the "Old House Enthusiasts' Home Tour" this past weekend. This involved several days filled with nothing but cleaning ahead of time, and much patience on the part of my parents to let us move in with them for the weekend while ~1000 people walked through our house. In exchange, we get a little stipend, an artist's drawing of our house and a chance to see our house as 'put together' by a designer with some borrowed furniture and lamps, pictures, etc. Needless to say, our house won't look this good again likely ever, and definitely not until we win the lottery! (the stipend isn't big enough to cover a new couch, two new chairs, several tables, lamps, framed pictures, and a full-time live-in maid, etc. etc.)

For anyone who hasn't been there, our home is 103 years old and was completely re-done by the guy we bought it from. (Another of his houses that he redid was also on tour, and it was fun to see all the similarities between the two places.) We have done nothing to it, not even the paint job it needs inside. Oh well. I guess people liked it well enough. Here are a few pictures of what it looked like this weekend, for anyone who is curious. (Greg)

Sister Love

Last week we were all outside after dinner playing and working in the yard. Lise was tired and fussy (still worn out after her birthday) and so I brought her in a little early, got her ready for bed, read her stories, gave her a hug and kiss, and put her down in her crib. She screamed and screamed. I haven't heard her scream that much since she was a little baby - not even getting her blood drawn a week ago made her scream quite that much. Of course I went back and checked on her, she was fine. But still she screamed.

Will and Claire came back inside to get Claire ready for bed and I suggested that they might want to go in and check on Lise - who was still screaming upstairs. As soon as Lise saw Claire coming into her room, she stopped crying. Claire and Will gave Lise hugs and kisses and then Lise was put back into her crib where we didn't hear a peep out of her after that.

Sister Love is pretty intense.

Lise at One Year (and a week)

Somehow it's been a whole year since Lise arrived - it's very difficult to believe! Here are a few pictures from her big day:

Is that sugar I taste?

No one better take away my apple cupcake!
