naps and a new friend

This weekend Claire took a few naps (and Mom got a much needed one, too.)

Friends Irene and Ian came over with their 6 week-old baby, Lily. Claire liked staring at Lily. They both have very cute smiles, but just try getting both of them to smile at the same time for a picture! -K

Reading!

Claire loves to read already! Here are a couple pictures and a movie of her. She looks very intently at the pictures and listens as we read.

Visitors

On Saturday morning, G'ma and G'pa Cooper came up for a quick visit. So quick that we didn't even get any pictures.

Later that day Grandpa Hoyer and his wife Fran came to spend the rest of the weekend with us and see Claire. We had a very nice visit, and they made it back home to Des Moines without problems despite the snowstorm on Sunday.

Zeeba and her fingers

Claire turned 11 weeks old on Friday and discovered her fingers. Her favorite toy right now is "zeeba neighba" so here's a couple pictures of her playing with him and exploring her fingers.

a new video

10 weeks old!

Claire turned 10-weeks old on Friday, Jan. 12! Here is what she's been up to: Aunt Ellen came to visit and babysit for a few days. I think she had fun watching Claire, though she did have to fend off Teaser, who decided he really wanted the apple and to read 'Red Faber.' (a great book, he has very good taste)

Claire became quite proficient at putting her hand in her mouth and batting at toys while sitting in her chair. She only puts her left fist in her mouth and almost always uses her left hand to hit at her toys, so we are taking an early guess that she might become left-handed like her Grandpa C.

Claire also had a visit with her friend Levi. This time they actually noticed that the other existed.

And Claire discovered that the comics are the best part of the paper, she takes after her mom on this one.

2 months old!!

Claire turned two months old today and discovered something new! Here's a short 1 minute video showing you her new favorite expressions!

What's up, Doc?

Claire had her two-month checkup today and got stuck with a needle three times for her first immunizations since birth. (Poll: Who flinched more - Mom or Claire?)

Claire was given a clean bill of health and impressed Dr. Schumacher with how she was holding her head up and able to support herself with her legs.

She weighed in at 11 pounds, 4.5 ounces and was 23.5 inches long. Her length puts her at about the 90th percentile. Her weight is about the 60th and her head size about the 80th. Her height, weight and head size have all been tracking very consistently since birth. So far she's pretty proportional, with the exception of her eyelashes... They've got to be 99th percentile.

Last night we read some books to her and it was the first time she actually seemed to be paying attention and looking with interest at the pictures. "I Am A Bunny" was an especially big hit!

In other news: Kate goes back to work this week (unhappily) and Will discovers (unhappily) that pushups with Claire on his back will make his arms very sore the next day.
