"Real" food

Claire is one step closer to being an adult now. We introduced solid food (banana)into her diet on Saturday and began teaching her to drink from a shot glass. (It's just water... really!)

I'm ready!

So this is how it's done...

Mmmmmmmmmm!

More, please!

One heckuva weekend

It was one beautiful weekend in Dairyland. Saturday morning was Claire's first trip to the Farmer's Market and the Capitol. She got to see a lot of other babies, including a few who were trying to go clockwise around the Capitol (a huge cultural taboo in Madison).

Claire spent a lot of time sitting up by herself this weekend playing with her toys. She also spent a lot of time not sleeping and coughing, having picked up a cold from daycare this week. Note to future parents: Swaddling a baby may help them fall asleep. When they are old enough to break out of the swaddles at any time (or the weather is too warm to swaddle them) it may be difficult to get them to fall asleep without the swaddle.

Despite the lack of sleep, Claire continues to be in a great mood and is liking spending more time outside watching mom and dad dig in the garden.

Kate and Will are enjoying the nice weather, too, though Will believes 80 degrees may be too warm for his Scandinavian blood. It does make for good grilling weather and good procrastinating-from-writing-final-paper weather.

Even more visits!

Claire's godfather surprised us with a visit on Wednesday night! Kenny was in town for business. She was happy to see him.

On Thursday night we went over for dinner to Uncle Andy and Aunt Josie's house. And Claire got to meet their three cats. They weren't too interested in being around her and getting their fur pulled.

More family visits!

Last weekend Claire saw lots more family: Grandma and Grandpa Cooper (and visited them at their workplaces), Grandma Julie, and Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Koch, and Aunt Josie and Uncle Andy! Whew! That's a lot of family in a weekend! Here are a couple of pictures:

Saturday before Easter

We took a short trip to my parent's house this past weekend for Easter. Claire entertained not only the grandparents, but also Greg and Ellen who were home from college.

On Saturday, two of my friends from high school, Annie and Susie, came over with their husbands. Annie also brought her three kids. I had only met the oldest before, so it was great to catch up. In this picture, Justin, the father of three, gives parenting advice (with the help of Harry) to Will, the new father, and Eric, a future father:

The rest of last week...

Claire enjoys her farm set from Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa K.

Erik, Will's college roommate and the Best Man in our wedding (almost 5 years ago!) stopped by on Friday with some good news... he and Jenny are engaged! (Claire wasn't sure what to make of him.)

Going for a Run!

We're a little behind at posting, so I'll try to catch up over the next few days.

Last week (on the one day it was nice) we took Claire out in her stroller... but this time for a run, instead of just a walk! She seemed to enjoy it; she babbled most of the way. It's pretty nice now that we can go running even when no one else is around to watch her because she can go running too.

Cosmic Bowling

Some people from my lab went cosmic bowling on Saturday. Claire seemed to like her first experience under black lights and first experience bowling, though she did fall asleep toward the end in Ashley's arms. (she was nice enough to hold her while Will and I bowled.)
