Rolling Over Video

Here's the video, hope you enjoy it! Also, hopefully soon a better quality video of the old movie of Claire sticking out her tongue can be seen at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ob65GeEOuM

We're not number one

Claire very intently watched (some) of the Wisconsin-Ohio State game yesterday. She was disappointed when the Badgers lost.

Saturday walk to the Library

After Will shoveled out on Saturday morning (~5-7 inches), we decided to walk to the library. We decided to share a few pictures of how Claire goes out with us in the winter.

New trick

Claire discovered yesterday at day care that she can roll over from her back to her front. She struggled to duplicate her feat last night but was demonstrating her technique for mom and dad again this morning. We're so proud...

Just some pictures

I had some requests to see a close-up picture of Claire in her track suit and running shoes that she wore for her race the other day. Here she is, including a picture of her stretching. (always stretch to avoid injury!)

Another picture shows how Teaser likes to participate in story time. After all, the book is called "I am a Bunny."

The last two pictures show some of Claire's great smiles. (she was being lifted in the air by mom, so it was hard to get a picture of the moving target.)

hope you enjoy the pictures! (Claire will be 15 weeks old on Friday)

Valentine's Road Race - 5K

Will and Kate ran in a local 5K race this morning. Yes, it was cold, but it's a fun race, inexpensive, and they have pretty good food and great door prizes. Oh yeah, and we both sort of wanted to see how fast we could run. Will hadn't run a race in 16 months and Kate hadn't raced in over a year.

Grandma Julie is visiting for the weekend, so she had babysitting duties inside while we ran. Claire did not run, but she seemed to enjoy staring at all the runners in their crazy colored outfits as they stretched before and after the race.

We both started out conservative, because it was cold out there and because we hadn't raced in so long and didn't know how fast we could run. We both ended up negative splitting each mile.

Results: Will: 19:02 Kate: 26:04 Our "team" (since it's a valentine's day race they score one male/one female as a team) was 10th.

We both think we could have gone faster, but
we were pretty happy with the way things went overall.

Ok, that's enough on us. We know you just check this site for the Claire pictures anyway. Here are a couple of her with Grandma and all of us before the race.

p.s. Kate even won a small door prize - it's a fun event!

Claire starts Day Care

On Tuesday Claire had her first day of day care. She goes to Thin Thin's house three days a week (Will watches her the other two days). The first week has gone pretty well. It's been harder on Mom than on Claire. We really like Thin Thin and Claire seems to as well.

Claire is the only child in her day care right now except for her son, Preston (~10 months.) Preston seems to like Claire, he gave her a kiss on the nose the other day. Claire didn't know what to think, then cried and pushed him away, Thin Thin said. :o)

Rhyme time

There are a lot of words that rhyme with Claire... How many can you come up with? I'll start you off:
Affair, Air, Bare, Bear, Blare, Care, Chair...

So far we've come up with over 40.

Alumni Meet

We went back to our alma mater this Saturday for the annual Alumni Track Meet. (indoors, of course. Runners may be crazy, but we're not THAT crazy!) We had a lot of fun seeing friends from college (and their babies) and checking out updates to the campus.

Neither Will or I ran in any events (I feel like I have an excuse... who's cute and turned three months old on Saturday. His excuse was something lame like not wanting to get injured. Lest you think he's just lazy I will point out that he was out running this morning at 6am... in minus 16 degree weather (and that's NOT including windchill!!!)

However, Claire represented the family and competed in her first race ever - the Kids' 55m race. Check out the shots of her at the starting blocks. She might have had to be carried by her dad the whole 55 meters, but so did a few other kids who were physically able to run. Next year she'll be going under her own power, we suspect.

The Little Scientist

Claire has been coming into lab with Kate a few times a week. She loves looking at everything that the scientists are doing, spending time with mom's co-workers and "helping" her mom out with some experiments. (p.s. nothing dangerous was being done with the baby there, don't worry, Grandmas!)
