Is July really almost over?

Can't believe July is close to over already. Here are a few pictures of (in no particular order) visit to MN to see cousins and friends (and dogs, the Mississippi river, and a great swing set), a hike through the woods before the hot spell hit, and blueberry yogurt popsicles.

Summer Fun Lately

Here's a video of what the girls have been up to the last couple of days - including the girls reading a book and toward the end: a few minutes of video Claire took of Lise when just the two of them were in the room! The camera work is a little bouncy - beware! But it's pretty funny to see how the two sisters interact when no one is looking. Claire is maybe just a little bit of a bossy older sister, but Lise isn't afraid to say "Mo, CUR!" (or translated: "No, Claire!") Hope you like it!

A May trip to Des Moines

Somehow in the craziness of finals time and getting ready for teaching a summer school class we did not post on our mid-May trip to Des Moines: a wedding, a zoo trip, and time playing with an aunt and uncle... among other thing! Here are two pictures I like from the trip:

Visitors!

We love when visitors stop by! It was good to chat with my aunt and uncle while they were in the area for a wedding on the other side of the family. Claire and Lise enjoyed playing 'tent' and 'bears' with Aunt Barb under the dining room table.

Aunt Barb: Are there any nice girls' toes in here? This bear is hungry for girls' toes!
Claire: Why don't you go find Mama's!

The girls watch for our next visitors... will it be you??

A Saturday in Madison

A scone (and hot-spicy cheese bread for Mom and Dad) at the farmer's market...

A visit to the zoo:

And a cousin's first birthday party!

(which included the whole family together!)

It was a very fun day trip to our old town!

Science Wednesday

Last week the girls were excited to make mini 'volcanoes' with vinegar and baking soda. Claire chose pink and Lise purple (surprise). They are very excited to show their dad sometime, who apparently has never actually seen this trick in action.
