The Farm III: "My Best Friend"

Lise formed quite the attachment to her Great-Grandpa this trip to the farm.  She wanted to sit next to him at dinner the day we were leaving, and said during the meal: "Gramps, you're my best friend... because you do funny things."  Then, a bit later, she urgently asked for paper and pencil because she wanted to show Gramps how she could write her name:

 

 

Here she's showing Gramps how Ma's iPad works to look at pictures.

 

Always before she had seemed a bit scared of Gramps (he's not exactly a quiet, leave-you-alone sort of guy, as my siblings and cousins can attest to) but this trip, she thought he was great! 

 

Unfortunately, he's a bit hard of hearing and Lise is tough to understand even for us sometimes. I think he felt bad he couldn't always catch what she said to him, but we did our best to translate.

The Farm I: Cows

We took a quick trip to the farm recently. It was great weather and we had a great time! The girls got to spend some time up close and personal with the cows. Sage was kicking her legs so much when she saw Tolly out in the yard. She was pretty excited to pet her, too.

 

 

Claire was maybe not as excited. (But she's really being held because she didn't have her shoes on... I think.)

The older two spent some good quality time watching them milk in the morning while Sage napped. Lise especially loved this, she was so excited to get to push the button to open a gate and let them out after the milking finished that she didn't even seem to mind the splatters she got on her jacket - at least not too much.  I think she felt like a real farmer.

 

 

Sage enjoyed all sorts of cows during the visit.

Lise found Will's captain's arm band from his high school soccer days and thought it made a great headband.
